GJ Gillespie Wins Award

THE JURY FOR the Art Room Gallery's International online Abstract competition awarded "Forever Young"a collage by GJ Gillespie, a coveted Honorable Mention.

"It is the tenth award I've been lucky enough to receive," said the artist from his studio in Kirkland Washington, where he is currently quarantined because of the Coronavirus.

The Art Room Gallery received entries from the following countries: USA, France, Italy, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Japan, India, Armenia, Ireland, Romania, Hong Kong, Estonia, Bulgaria, South Africa, Israel, Ukraine, Finland and South Korea.

85 artworks were selected to appear in the exhibition from those submitted.

Aside from First, Second, and Third place, Merit and Honorable Mention awards were presented. See finalists and award winners here.

The mid century abstract design was made with tissue, custom dyed cloth, wax, colored pencil, cheese cloth, spray painted papers and house paint.

This piece was accepted for the Fiber Fusion Exhibition show that traveled to four cities Washington state in 2016 - 17.

It also also received a Merit Award in another online competition in 2015.  "Forever Young" was among 80 selected out of 760 entries for the Light Space and Time “Abstracts” 2015 Art Exhibition.
